Age of Immigration, Part I

Presented by Tom Cousineau

Speaker will present in-person / Presentation will be recorded

This two-part presentation on the Age of Immigration covers the period from 1830 to 1930, during which 32 million people emigrated from Europe to the U.S, and emphasizes the historic perspective of this profound transformational international movement. Part I will focus on Europe. Ethnic immigration patterns will be explored, including the British, Irish and Germans early, and the Italians, Russians, and Jews later. European ports, ship evolution, changes in passenger manifest documents and US immigration laws will also be discussed. Part II will be presented in early 2024.

Learning from Members is a partnership program between Carlsbad City Library and the North San Diego County Genealogical Society (NSDCGS). Participants will learn about various genealogy topics and tips through these presentations offered by members of NSDCGS.

The program is held the second Tuesday of the month from January through November and is presented in person and virtually.
