All previous overdue library fines have been forgiven and should no longer appear on your library account after Sept. 1, 2022. Fees related to lost or damaged items, interlibrary loans and accounts sent to collections are still applicable. Physical items are eligible for up to three automatic renewals if there are no existing holds on the item. The day after items are due, the library will send a notice via SMS or email to patrons indicating items that have been renewed or must be returned. Patrons without SMS or email notifications will still benefit from automatic renewals and will receive a paper notification after items that were not automatically renewed are 14 days overdue.

Yes. Fees for replacement cards, holds fees (currently suspended) and interlibrary loans will remain in place. The library will continue to charge fees for lost or damaged items and processing charges.

You will receive an SMS or email notification the day after items are due indicating that your item(s) were automatically renewed, or if any of your items were unable to be renewed and need to be returned. Patrons without SMS or email notifications will receive a mail notification at 14 days overdue. Please contact your local Carlsbad City Library location to ensure your contact information and notification preferences are up to date. At 28 days overdue, you will be sent a mail notification that your item has been marked as lost and you will be billed for the item plus a processing fee. When a lost item is returned, the associated bills are cancelled.

If lost materials are not returned or paid for in a timely manner, your account could be referred to collections. Please call your local Carlsbad City Library branch or visit a service desk to ensure your contact information is up to date.
